How to Copy a Class Schedule

A quick guide to duplicating a Class Program so you don't have to re-enter subjects, instructors, rooms, and schedules one by one.

What Does “Duplicate” Do?

The Duplicate Class Program feature copies an entire class schedule from one section / year level / term into another. This saves you from manually re-typing every subject, instructor, room, day, time, and slot count.

Here is exactly what gets copied:

FieldCopied?Notes
Subject YesSubject code and description
Instructor YesAssigned faculty member
Room YesAssigned room
Day & Time YesSchedule slots
Slots / Status YesCapacity and offering status
Section No You choose the target section
School Year / SemesterNoYou choose the target term
Why use it? If next semester's schedule is mostly the same as this one—same subjects, same instructors, same rooms—just duplicate the program and then edit the few items that changed.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Class Program page

After logging in, navigate to the Class Program page. You can go there directly:

    Open Class Program page

Menu path: Sidebar » Class Program
  2. Select the source program you want to copy

On the Class Program page, use the dropdowns at the top to pick the Course, Year Level, Section, School Year, and Semester of the schedule you want to copy from.

The table below will load the subjects for that combination.

  3. Click the “Duplicate” button

Above the class program table, click the Duplicate button. A modal window will appear titled “Duplicate Class Program”.

The button is next to the other action buttons above the table.
  4. Choose the target School Year and Semester

In the modal, select the School Year and Semester you want to copy into from the dropdowns.

Tip: Pick the term where you want the new schedule to live. This is usually next semester or next school year.
  5. Choose the target Year Level and Section

Select the Year Level dropdown first. The Section dropdown will automatically refresh and show only the sections available for that year level.

Pick the section you want to copy the schedule into.

  6. Click “Duplicate Now”

Review your selections, then click the Duplicate Now button. The system will copy all subjects, instructors, rooms, days, times, and slots from the source program into the target section and term.

Done! You should see a success message. The target section now has the same schedule as the source.
  7. Review and adjust the copied schedule

Navigate to the target section's Class Program to verify everything looks correct. Make any needed edits—change an instructor, swap a room, adjust a time slot, etc.

Open Class Program page to review

Important Things to Know

Existing subjects are skipped If a subject already exists in the target section for the same term (same subject, same year level, same section, same semester, same school year), it will not be duplicated again. This prevents accidental double-entries.
Sections come from Settings The Section dropdown is populated from the official section list maintained in Settings » Sections. If a section is missing, ask your administrator to add it there first.
Editing after duplication is normal Duplicating gives you a head start. It is expected that you will fine-tune the copied schedule—for example, assigning a different instructor or changing a room for a specific subject.

Quick Checklist

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I duplicate from one course to a different course?

No. Duplication works within the same course (and major, if applicable). The source and target must share the same course. If you need subjects from a different course, set up the class program for that course separately.

What happens if the target section already has subjects?

Only subjects that do not already exist in the target will be added. Existing subjects are left untouched. This means you can safely duplicate into a section that already has a few subjects without creating duplicates.

Can I undo a duplication?

There is no automatic undo. If you made a mistake, go to the target section's Class Program and delete the unwanted subjects manually.

Why is the Section dropdown empty?

Make sure you selected a Year Level first. The Section dropdown refreshes based on the year level. If it is still empty, the sections may not have been set up in Settings » Sections. Contact your administrator.
